With Croesus, Gestüt Grenzland has added an absolute top performer to its portfolio of stallions. Beautifully built, with an athletic physique and a wonderful attitude, Croesus is Gestüt Grenzland's new top sire. The stallion convinces with his excellent basic paces and great rideability. Spectators never cease to be amazed by his jumping capabilities, for Croesus is a scopey, perceptive jumper, displaying an optimum leg technique and bascule.
At the age of three, Croesus was licensed by the Oldenburg Breeding Association, but he was not used for breeding at the time as the main focus was on his career as a sport horse. After a careful introduction to the sport, Croesus made the premier league in 2013. With Beat Mändli in the saddle, he came second in the Mannheim championships, won the 2013 Swiss Championships, and took second place in the Barcelona Nations Cup and fifth place in the Mechelen Grand Prix, to name only a few of his successes. Ridden by Jessica Kürten, he placed highly in the international shows at Ebreichsdorf, Franconville and St. Gallen. In 2015, Croesus started successfully in national and international competitions with Pia Reich in the saddle. Among other things, the pair won the GP in Kandern and twice took third place at the Munich show for under-25-year-old riders.
Sire: Casall, a son of Caretino, was licensed in Neumünster in 2001. Even then he was a very conspicuous stallion with a compact build and pronounced neck.
In 2005, Casall was an impressive winner of the Schleswig-Holstein championships for 6-year-old show jumpers, gaining a fantastic score of 9.5 with his permanent rider Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. He is now a fixture in international show jumping, winning the Grands Prix of Rotterdam, Falsterbo and S'Hertogenbosch, the 2011 Global Champions Tour of Hamburg and Monte Carlo, as well as the World Cup in Lyon. In 2012, Casall topped off his winning streak with participation in the Olympic Games. In 2013, he made his mark taking sixth place at the World Cup finals in Gothenburg and third and fourth place at the European Championships in Herning. With a breeding value of 150 and 47 sons registered in the main stallion book (HB I), Casall is also a highly successful sire.
Dam: Penelope VI is descended from the famous Holstein dam line 730b, which also produced the top stallions Sandro, Coronado, Lazio and Lordano. The dam's sire, Coronado, who was a highly successful show jumper up to advanced (S) level himself, had 77 progeny successful at S level show jumping by 2015. Via Lagos and Raimond, the dam line is connected to the thoroughbred blood of Ladykiller and Ramzes.
