Holsteiner jumping stallion par excellence
Equipped with all the attributes of a top athlete, Colore represents pure performance. Refined by an excellent performance pedigree, with a lot of expression and an ideal top line, he attracts attention. He shows easy and dynamic movements, an uphill canter with great ground covering, which is paired with superb rideability. He handles the highest fences with almost unlimited scope, excellent technique and bascule. Ridden by Beat Mändli since he was 5 years old, Colore had been carefully prepared for his future sports career. Large wins at international youngster competitions were followed by high placings at major international competitions, such as 2nd in the GP at CSI*** Magna Racino, 2nd at CSI***** Lyon and 2nd at CSIO St. Gallen. Already shortly after Colore's move to Gestüt Grenzland, further placings were added at the CSI-W Geneva and CSI Frankfurt under his new rider Hans-Dieter Dreher.
Sire: One of the most frequented sires of the Holstein Association is the Calypso II-son Contender. His extraordinary inheritance is ascribable to the special genotype of his dam Gofine. This mare delivered with different sires top horses: Ulina by Chicago (Susanne Behring), her granddaughter Think Twice (Leopold van Asten), as well as the approved Cornetto by Caletto I. Gofine's daughter M-Loreen by Leander delivered two offspring, each by Caletto I, both achieved international victories: Fine Kiss (Michel Robert) and Caliskan (Candice King). There are already a lot of top horses by Contender in the international jumping sport. Highlights are the European Champion Montender with Marco Kutscher and Carlo under Nick Skelton, winner of the bronze medal at the European Championships in Madrid in 2011, as well as the three offspring Con Air (Jose Larocca), Contino 14 (Jonathan Miller) and Checkmate (Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum), who were set for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in 2010.
Contender has produced 126 licensed sons in various German breeding areas and in the ranking of winnings of offspring, he meanwhile has also outrun Capitol I. With a breeding value of 151 points in jumping, Contender is one of the top sires in Germany.
Dam: The Lord-daughter Hera XIX comes from the stem 741. This Holstein dam line has produced a number of international top horses, e.g. VDL Cardento (team silver for Sweden in Athens OS), Leonardo (F. Sloothaak) and Chagall Orion (M. Deslauriers). Hera's sire, the Ladykiller-son Lord, produced in his first season of breeding, where he covered only a couple of mares, the world class horse Livy, which was internationally successful under Peter Luther. Many more excellent competition horses contributed to the glory of Lord, e.g. Loreana (Lars Nieberg) and GK Helena (Inga Czwalina). Hera's dam Artane delivered Classido, who was licensed in Holstein, the internationally successful Lupus and Hera's licensed full brother Lotus.
